We had Dave and his sister in law Deb out for a full day yesterday, and planned on a little shark fishing in the Florida Keys. They said they would like to catch anything so I figured we could try some Islamorada Shark Fishing during the beginning of the trip. We sent down a little tunny (aka bonito) for bait in the first spot, but didn’t have any bites. Our next spot was out a little deeper, and we set up a kite with a live blue runner in 200′. Within about 20 minutes we had a 5 foot hammer head shark circling the bait. After a little chase the shark ate the bait and Dave was hooked up. We had the shark on 20 lb test so we had to play him out. After a 15 minute fight Dave had his first ever hammer head shark by the boat. We took a couple quick pictures and then removed the hooks from the shark, that way it didn’t impede any future feeding of the shark. We put the shark back in the water and released him, he swam off healthy right away! We catch sharks all year long in Islamorada so book your Islamorada Shark Fishing Charter Today!
